RUFC - Evans Narrows Striker Search Down To Two

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans is prepared to pay a six-figure sum for a proven goal scorer in the coming transfer window - but only if that player is the right one.

Speaking to David Beddows of The Advertiser the Millers Boss said that he has narrowed his search down to two players with Chief Operation Officer Paul Douglas having spoken to both.

'At our level we`re talking good money,` Evans said, 'but if we do spend it then we will be making sure we are prudent in doing so. We won`t pay a penny more in a transfer fee or weekly wage than what the valuation says.`

Evans also said that just because a new player comes in it won`t make him an automatic choice for a starting place. 'He`ll have to earn the right to start,` said Evans.

Evans has said this week that he is going to be talking to an International player, although that was to have already happened, it seems the price of the flights has put this meeting on hold until next week. Whether this player is one of the two strikers or not we shall just have to wait and see.
