RUFC - Evans Happy But Says It's Still Not Right
Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans thought his team should have won by a lot more than they did today.
Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the four-one win over Accrington Stanley at the New York Stadium this afternoon, the Millers Boss said, 'I thought we started really well though we were a bit fortunate with the goal but their goal led a charmed life because it could have been six or seven. Kieran Agard had three one-on-one's with the goalkeeper and he failed to finish how he can finish but he loves playing for Rotherham United and he gives everything he's got.
'It was a wonder strike for their goal and you don't save them and, to be fair, I think we lost our way a little bit for the remainder of the first half. There was a bit of a panic and the crowd got a bit edgy.
'Over the ninety minutes we've won by four and you have to be pleased with that on every occasion but it could have been nine or ten. If we'd have gone five-nil up after twenty five minutes it wouldn't have been a surprise to anyone in the stadium including them. But, once we went two-up I think everyone knew it was going to be a question of how many we were going to score.
'I asked the boys at half-time to show some character, to show some bravery in getting on the ball in some difficult areas and I said to my two substitutes go and win us a football match and they made a difference.
'We've gone two points off the automatics tonight and we're still not right and we know that.'
