'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Evans Praise For Players

Rotherham United`s winning goal this afternoon at Spotland against Rochdale loanee Courtney Cameron`s first ever league goal. And what a cracker it was!

The nineteen year old, on loan from Aston Villa, received the ball outside the area, looked up, took a quick touch and curled it into the top corner of the net - which no-one was every going to stop.

Courtney came off the bench this afternoon to make his eleventh appearance for the Millers.

Speaking about the winning goal, Millers Boss Steve Evans said, 'The winning goal came from a five or six man move on the edge of the box. And we`ve got a young man who`s got great ability. He`s eighteen years old and he`s learning every day and some days we will be pleased with him and some days we won`t but I think when he goes back to Aston Villa, he`ll go back a better player.

'But it wasn`t just about him today. I thought our midfield, O`Conner, Frecklington and Taylor played a massive part and I thought Arnason was back to his best which is good.'

Speaking about Kayode Odejayi, who started his first game since the five-nil drubbing at Dagenham, Steve Evans said, 'For a number of weeks we`ve been saying Alex Revell has been in tremendous form and probably shakes his head today when we name the team. But Big K has been excellent in training. He`s an incredible player when he`s focused and he`s at it.`

I`d like to see Courtney Cameron stop a little longer with us, but, when the Villa hierarchy see his goal today maybe they will want him back!
