RUFC - Evans Praise For Mulls

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans had nothing but praise for his skipper Johnny Mullins after Tuesday`s win away to Rochdale.

After taking a 'nasty whack` in the first half, Mulls had to go off to be stitched up but came back on and, as Evans says, was 'heroic`.

Speaking to David Beddows of The Advertiser, the Millers Boss said, 'Johnny Mullins suffered a late, late challenge which was horrendous. The culprit should have been sent off.

'Johnny went off, got stitched up, came back on and was heroic. The determination I saw in his face at the end when I hugged him reminded me of what I used to see in Pablo Mills when I was at Crawley when we won big games.`

Johnny Mullins has always been like that and I think that`s why a lot of fans were perturbed when he was sent out on loan to Oxford. And, I have nothing at all against Ian Sharps who I think is a great leader, but I was a little dismayed when Mulls wasn`t given the captain`s armband at the start of the season. Perhaps we`ll see them both on the pitch together tomorrow?
