RUFC - Former Miller 'Not Given Enough Game Time'

Former Rotherham United winger Gareth Evans has told the South Yorkshire Football News that Manager Steve Evans 'squeezed him out` of the Millers.

Twenty-four year old Evans came to Rotherham under former Manager Andy Scott from Bradford City but not finding himself in his namesake`s plans this season has moved on to Fleetwood Town.

'I could have moved on in the summer,` the former Macclesfield player said, 'but the manager said he wanted to keep me in his plans and gave me a new deal.

'Considering the number of games I`d played I didn't think my record at Rotherham was bad so it was disappointing when the manager then sort of shut me out and didn't give me any game time and I feel that if he`d played me for four or five games, ninety minutes in my natural position that I would have started coming to fruition but I never really got that opportunity.`

Gareth made fifteen appearances this season for the Millers and scored two goals against his former side Bradford in September, the majority of which he started.

It`s a bit of a shame with Gareth because I felt his career with Rotherham got off to a good start then he got a bad injury at Valley Parade in November 2011 and didn`t really seem to get over it.
