This time last year the Millers were trying to get over a two-one defeat at the hands of Pablo di Canio's Swindon Town at the New York Stadium. Striker Lewis Grabban said that the Millers hadn't been at the races on the day while Sam Wood, a winger on loan from Brentford, urged Grabban to stop with the Millers as it looked like he was thinking of going to a higher club.

16 January 2007
Six years ago the Millers were getting ready to travel to London to take on Millwall and we discovered that the referee at the New Den was to be Mr Keith Hill from Royston in Hertfordshire.

With it looking like the Millers would be signing Tommy Wright of Barnsley a statement from the club explaining why the striker would not be seen in a red and white Rotherham shirt said, 'Rotherham United have been unable to agree personal terms with striker Tommy Wright and his agent. We are disappointed but are not prepared to jeopardise the clubs financial future for the sake of meeting an agents demands.'

16 January 2002
Eleven years ago League One Rotherham entertained Premiership Southampton at Millmoor in the FA Cup. Richie Barker put the home side in front on thirty-nine minutes with John Mullin doubling the lead ten minutes into the second half. Andy Monkhouse pushed over Kevin Davies on seventy minutes with Marian Parhars scoring from the spot for the visitors to make it a nervy last twenty minutes for the Millers. After the game Millers Manager Ronnie Moore said, 'Those last twenty minutes lasted a lifetime. They aged me and I feel about sixty-four at the moment.' Southampton Boss, Gordon Strachan, said he was disappointed with the result but not with the performance.

The Millers went one behind in this game on twenty-six minutes when Steve Watts put the ball past Mike Pollitt in the Millers goal. But two goals from Paul Warne either side of one from Steve Thompson, gave the home side all the points. In the last minute of the game referee Paul Danson showed a second yellow card to Jason White.
