'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Evans 'Sharpsy Model Professional'

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans revealed that Burton Albion had asked about skipper Ian Sharps more than once.

Speaking after Sharpsy left to join the Brewers yesterday, at least until the end of the season, the Millers Boss said, 'Ian has been a model professional and an excellent captain for me this season and I have the utmost respect for him. However, this deal offers him the opportunity to play football week in, week out something that Ian is very demanding about. I have just had an excellent conversation with him and the mutual respect between both of us was very evident.

'With Craig Morgan returning to action shortly it seemed sense for me to sanction the move and I am sure Ian will do great job at a good club in Burton Albion. We wish him well for the rest of the season and possibly beyond.'

Johnny Mullins will be the new Millers captain.

With Steve admitting that he was in talks with two targets it seems evident now that we shall be seeing Crawley's Claude Davis wearing a Millers shirt in the near future, someone who Evans and Paul Raynor have worked with before.
