'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Ground Staff Working Hard

Rotherham United 's Player Facilities Manager Dave Fellowes is keeping his fingers crossed that the game on Saturday against Bristol Rovers at the New York Stadium will go ahead.

Speaking to MillersPlayer earlier today as they cleared the snow covering the pitch and put the frost covers on, Dave said, 'Last Friday the pitch was frozen but with the snow falling on top of it that has helped to thaw it out. We are just hoping that the weather is with us and not against us now.'

Explaining that the covers couldn't be put on earlier in the week because it would have killed the grass Dave carried on, 'The temperature has been plus one today so that will help the snow on the surface to melt before we put the sheets down. The forecast is for minus three or four tomorrow night and the sheets should protect the pitch and they have now issued a weather warning for snow on Friday night which we are monitoring very carefully.

We've got Community Volunteers down today who have been absolutely brilliant and we've got a team outside who are doing the surrounding areas.'

I am told that the frost covers are good up to minus three or four but the forecast for Thursday night is to go two or three degrees below that so let's just hope either the forecast is wrong or the covers are better than we all think.
