RUFC - Evans 'Given Away Too Many Soft Goals'

Rotherham United haven`t kept a clean sheet at the New York Stadium since the one-nil win at the end of October against Plymouth Argyle - and Manager Steve Evans isn't happy.

Ahead of tomorrows game with Bristol Rovers the Millers Boss told The Star that his team need to be more clinically defensive.

'We have given away too many soft goals,` Evans said.

He is hoping that new signing Claude Davis can do something about it and he will take some part in the game tomorrow, though whether from the start or coming from the bench it isn't yet clear.

'First and foremost he`s a defender but he`ll talk and he`ll organise and I believe we`ll benefit from his presence.`

We`ve actually only kept four clean sheets at home and looking back at the goals we`ve conceded I think most of them have been when we`ve been caught on the break although there have also been the calamity ones. At the other end we`ve only failed to score three times at home - twice in the league and once in the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy.

Kari Arnason will return from suspension tomorrow which will be a big boost to the team and I hope he starts in midfield because, to me, that`s where we have been lacking of late.
