RUFC - Let's Hope The Weather Gods Are Kind

Vital Rotherham on: facebook

Vital Rotherham on: twitter

Rotherham United Ground staff have worked hard this week to get the pitch ready for tomorrow`s game and now everyone is keeping their fingers crossed that the weather doesn't worsen so that the game can go ahead.

This week Players Facilities Manager Dave Fellowes and his merry band of workers have had snow shovels at the ready to clear the snow, which was deliberately left on until Wednesday to keep the pitch insulated. It`s now cleared and, after the team trained on it yesterday, the frost covers were put down.

Before the temperatures plummeted last night Dave told The Advertiser that he was confident that the match would go ahead.

With snow forecast for some part of the day today (though I`ve seen three forecasts for the area and all say different times to expect the snow) Dave says that 'we are in the lap of the gods.`

And, of course, it`s not just the pitch that can be a problem. As we know from the game being called off at Oxford last weekend it`s also a matter of health and safety. People have to get to the game and if the surrounding area isn't passable or is deemed dangerous then the game could still be called off.

Let`s all keep our fingers crossed that the game goes ahead - or else it will mean yet another Tuesday night game to fit in.
