RUFC - Evans Pleased To Have Got His Man

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans was pleased to have got the services of striker Jordan Slew from Blackburn Rovers yesterday before the transfer deadline closed.

The Millers Boss told Radio Sheffield last night that the tall Sheffield born striker is initially here until the beginning of March with the option of looking to keep him until the end of the season.

'I've tried to sign him a couple of times in the last few months,` Evans said, 'and I did think even at noon today that he was going to a league one club but I persuaded Michael Appleton to let me have a chat to him. After the chat he went away for a while and got back late this afternoon saying he`d love to join us and we`re delighted to get him on board.

'He`s a real desire and a real hunger and is exceptionally quick with raw technique which is exceptional for where we ply our trade.

'We`ve been on the search for a striker for most of the month and he`s a real good signing for us.`

I just hope the fans give this lad a bit of leeway after what I've been reading on the social network sites - some are already having a 'pop` at Evans for bringing him in and he`s not even kicked a ball in anger for us yet!

South Yorkshire Bragging Rights Go To The Millers

Rotherham United's fighting spirit did them well this afternoon after they came from one down in the first half to win the South Yorkshire derby with Doncaster Rovers two-one - but boy, did they leave it late!

Joe Mattock was back in the starting line-up for the Millers with Michael Ihiekwe, who had replaced him last week, nowhere to be seen. Rovers also made one change with Ben Whiteman replacing the injured Luke McCullough.

It was a scrappy start to the game and although Rovers
