RUFC - Noble 'It Was A Massive Win'

Rotherham United midfielder David Noble said it was a massive win for the Millers yesterday.

Speaking to MillersPlayer after he had scored in the three-one win over Northampton Town, the thirty-one year old said, 'We knew how important this game was so a three-one win was very good for us.

'I think we were very solid against a physical team and I can only remember Woggy (Andy Warrington) making one save. We picked the passes at the right time and got the goals, and they were massive goals, because at one-nil they can still get back into it and you don't know how happy I was to see Prings (Ben Pringle) get a goal and then for me to get the third was the nail in the coffin. I think you can see the relief in all the lads and everyone came over to celebrate which shows good spirit.

'I don't score many goals and I do like to celebrate when I do but last weeks sort of meant nothing so I'm glad I could have a little jig today.'

Saying that his goalscoring record - two goals in two games - meant he was akin to Messi, David said, 'The last few months haven't been great for me on and off the pitch and I hope those things are behind me now and I can go forward and I couldn't have started any better than two goals in two and three points today.'

Having had a few problems in his personnel life, David then sustained a nasty ankle injury and when he was on the verge of getting better he damaged the ankle again in training. 'Obviously when you're getting injured the gaffer's not happy and you`re not happy, You're out of his mind when you're not in training so it's nice to get back playing. I just want to crack on and play games now although there are a lot of midfielders here and it's going to be difficult to keep my place but I want to be involved. Michael O'Connor is a good player and it's easy to play with good players and it's nice to have an understanding with someone.'

I thought the two of them (Noble and O'Connor) had a great game and ran the midfield as if they had played together consistently - I hope that is allowed to happen!
