RUFC - Gaffer and Chairman Have Long-Term Plan

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans says that he and Chairman Tony Stewart are determined to forge out long partnership.

Interest from Notts County brought Evans out in the local media saying that he was staying with the Millers and is determined to see out his three year contract - and, as Buzz Lightyear would say, beyond.

'Tony has spoken about a three to five year plan,` The Millers Boss told The Advertiser this week. 'In his own words he said he was sick and tired of moving managers on and wanted someone he felt could build something virtually from scratch and be strong enough to take the bad days and the flak that comes at a big club like Rotherham.

'Before Saturday`s game against Chesterfield, Tony`s words to me were 'You can get beat in the derby Steve, but we are here for three-to-five years together.`

'I`m very fortunate as a manager that when we lose a game I don`t have to look behind me for the knives. My Chairman is a very honest man and I know the first time he doubts that I`m 'the` man will be the first day I`m out of here.`

I think a lot of fans will be pleased to hear those words 'fed up with moving managers on` as well. Tony Stewart has had four managers since taking over at Rotherham United and it was a bit like being on a merry-go-round for the Millers fans. I feel a manager needs time to settle a team in and changing and chopping all the time does no good to the fan base or to the players.
