RUFC - Update On Paul Warne's Testimonial

Rotherham United stalwart Paul Warne was awarded a testimonial in November and things are now taking shape for the event.

One of the events is a draw which will allow the winner to have a squad number for next season and includes his or her photo with the team, a place on the squad list that appears in the programme for all the season and they will also get to sign a facsimile of a playing contract. Tickets are on sale for this now.

Warney's match night is to be on Tuesday, 30th April when there will be two games, one of them involving his former playing colleagues from the promotion sides at the start of the last decade.

There is also a golf day and dinner where Ronnie Moore and John Breckin are to be guest speakers, which is scheduled for Saturday, 23rd March.

Details are yet to be finalised for six events in local pubs where past and present Millers will be in attendance and there is also to be a comedy evening.

Already available is a testimonial programme priced at £3 (and can I say it`s a very good read).

There will also be a limited edition shirt which Paul has designed himself priced at £39.50 for adults and £34.50 for children.

Warney joined the Millers, for the first time, in 1999 from Wigan Athletic and was part of the back-to-back promotions when Rotherham went from League Two to the Championship. He moved to Oldham Athletic in 2005 and two years later moved to Yeovil before re-joining the Millers under Mark Robins in 2009. He hung up his boots at the end of last season and has joined the coaching staff as Development Coach.
