'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Morgan Thanks Chairman

Rotherham United defender Craig Morgan joined the Millers a month into the season on a short-term contract and must have feared the worst when, with just twelve appearances under his belt, he found himself out for four months with a broken leg.

But, Millers Boss Steve Evans had seen enough in those twelve games to offer the Welsh International an eighteen month contract.

Speaking to David Beddows of The Advertiser the twenty-seven year old said, 'I was in contract talks when the injury happened which probably didn't help. But, credit to the club I was still offered the contract.

'OK, I might not have got the terms I wanted but credit to the Chairman for still giving me a contract when he didn't have to and when others might have just said 'no' you're injured and I'm thankful for that.'

Speaking about the injury that saw him hobble off just before halt-time in the home game against Cheltenham in November, Craig said, 'It was a full spiral fracture of the leg. I tried to carry on but I knew I had a big problem. It's been a tricky one and although I thought I'd be back quicker, I've had a couple of problems with it along the way.

'It was frustrating because I was doing well and it was probably the best form I'd shown for years and I was enjoying my football. But I'm glad to be back involved now and although there's a bit of trauma still in there I'm slowly getting back into it.'
