RUFC - Reserves Win At The Proact

Rotherham United Reserves beat Chesterfield Reserves this afternoon at the Proact Stadium by two goals to one.

The Millers fielded a strong side including Kieran Agard, Daniel Kearns, Craig Morgan, Kayode Odejayi and Scott Shearer - the latter four all coming back from injury.

Rotherham's claim for a penalty on ten minutes when Jonathan Wafula seemed to upend Kearns was waved away by the referee while Odejayi had two chances both which failed to worry Josh Barrington in the Spireites goal. But on the half hour mark the lively Agard who got past Wafula and put the ball past Barrington from ten yards out. Jordan Clark had a chance which bounced off Scott Shearer's cross bar and at the other end Tim Whittaker did well to stop Agard getting through on goal.

The Millers started the second half brightly and within ten minutes Danny Kearns worked well to get himself into space, lifted the ball over a defender and smashed the ball into the back of the net giving Barrington little chance. This seemed to wake the home side up and Reece Lucas had to be aware when  Kristian Ramsey-Dickson rounded Shearer to block the shot on the line. But Ramsey-Dickson did get a goal when the visitors failed to clear a ball and it found the midfielders head and he headed the ball into the net to make it two-one. Minutes later Ramsey-Dickson was stopped from equalising by a smart save from Shearer and Danny Whitaker should have done better but dragged a shot wide. The Millers did have the ball in the net again abut Nicky Walker was adjudged to have handled the ball before putting it in the net.
