RUFC - Evans Pleased With Kearns And Morgan

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans might be having problems getting loanees in at the moment but there is good news on the injury front for the Millers.

Midfielder Danny Kearns played his first fifteen minutes of football on Tuesday night in the two-all draw at Wycombe followed by seventy minutes in a reserve win at Chesterfield the day after and came through well.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield the Millers Boss said, 'For forty-five minutes of the reserve game yesterday the young Chesterfield right-back may as well have gone and done his shopping at Asda because he never knew where Danny was. He teetered off a little bit in the second half but that's probably just due to lack of games.

'I thought he was a handful when we put him on at Wycombe and he certainly gave Sam Wood problems in the little time he was on.

'He's a top player and a top lad and he came through the planned seventy minutes that we gave him yesterday and I expect him to play some part at Whaddon Road at the weekend.'

Speaking about Craig Morgan who hasn't played since mid-November, Evans said, 'I don't think he's played since November and he was our best defender then by some distance but he's had a couple of set-backs in his rehabilitation but he's very close. When he played at Shrewsbury in the reserves last week we thought he was perhaps three games away from being ready. He's a fit lad and if you looked at his performance against Chesterfield yesterday he was very, very good and he's getting very close.'
