RUFC - Raynor Happy With Reserve Win

RUFC - Raynor Happy With Reserve Win

Rotherham United Reserve Manager Paul Raynor was delighted with the Reserve display on Wednesday afternoon at Chesterfield.

Speaking after the two-one win, Paul told MillersPlayer, 'We had a more experienced team than we`ve had in recent weeks and with the run-in to the end of the season coming we felt that a few of the experienced lads needed a game. It was good to see Scott Shearer out there and Craig Morgan, Kieran Agard, Kayode Odejayi and Daniel Kearns. So it was a strong side but Chesterfield were strong as well which made for a good game.

'There was some good performances from the young boys too and we got the win so on the whole it was a good day.`

Daniel Kearns and Kieran Agard scored the goals in the two one win at the Proact Stadium and Paul said, 'It was important for him to get some game time. He`s worked incredibly hard in training and with his re-hab so it was good to give him some game time.

'Kieran was very, very lively today but you always get that from Kieran and he took his goal very well.`

Some of the players who played in the game had been with the first team squad at Wycombe the night before and got held up in the terrible traffic jam coming away from Wycombe that yours truly got held up in. Asked about that, Paul said, 'Yes it was a late one and some of them didn't get to bed until around 4am but we felt it was important that some of them topped up their game time today and it was a relatively close game being at Chesterfield.

'It was a good work out today and I`m delighted with the boys and the attitude was absolutely spot on.`
