Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans praised defender Dale Tonge on his battling performance on Tuesday night against Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park.

Only starting one game since October the former Barnsley player was given the nod by Evans when Mark Bradley`s season ended early with a broken foot.

'Dale has gone in there and given all he has,` the Millers Boss told David Beddows of The Advertiser. 'We told him his time would come and when you lose key players like we have with Kari Arnason then you need players to be able to come in.

'We know what Dale`s deficiencies are and more importantly he knows.`

Dale`s only other appearance this year was in the three-one loss to Bristol Rovers at the New York Stadium in January when he didn't have the best of games, although, to be fair, he wasn`t the only one. I`ll be honest and say I didn't think he had a great game on Tuesday night either but obviously the Manager sees more of him than we fans do and I`m told he`s been playing well for the Reserves.
