RUFC - Shearer Glad To Be Back

Rotherham United goalkeeper Scott Shearer can`t wait to get back to playing games after having a winter he`d rather forget.

The thirty-two year old has been rocked by two injuries and has had to sit in the stands since October while his team mates have been battling the opposition on the field. His first injury was to the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee which he did in training and after just three days back after getting over that he fell awkwardly on his elbow, again in training, resulting in the longer lay-off.

Scott returned to the bench last Saturday and was there again on Tuesday night but he played the full ninety minutes of the Reserve win over Chesterfield on Wednesday afternoon.

Speaking to David Beddows of The Advertiser the former Crawley Town shot stopper said, 'To be honest it`s been depressing. It`s good that the lads have been doing well but on the other hand you feel left out.

'I was meant to be out for another four weeks but both operations went well so I've been able to come back early.`

Saying he will push Andy Warrington as hard as he can to get the number one shirt back off him, Scott said, 'It`s just about taking small steps at the moment. Last week I was working with Andy Dibble all week but his week I`m getting back into full training.`
