RUFC - Reserves Beat Oldham

Rotherham Reserves 3 Oldham Athletic Reserves 2

Rotherham United Reserves left it late to get a win this afternoon at Parkgate against Oldham Athletic.

It was a two youthful sides that took the field this afternoon with the Lactics fielding their Under eighteen's as they have a re-arranged League One game this evening.

The Millers got off to a good start when Connor Bell put the ball in the net from close range but the visitors equalised ten minutes later, against run of play, when Connor Hughes robbed Phil Woods in the middle of the park and went on his own to looping the ball over Scott Shearer, who is coming back from injury, in the home goal and into the net. The Millers had a couple of near shots but the Lactics took the lead when the Millers defenders didn't deal with a free-kick and the ball fell to Hughes who smashed a shot into the top corner from eighteen yards out.

The hosts came close to equalising just after the break but Liam Jacobs managed to turn a shot from Nicky Walker to safety. The Millers were having most of the play and on sixty-four minutes it paid off when Reece Lucas put Walker through who in turn played a good ball to Bell and he got his second and the Millers second of the afternoon when he slotted the ball past Jacobs. In the final minute of the game James Cadman received a long ball and struck it well past Jacob and it went in off the post to give the Millers the win.
