RUFC - Evans 'People Of Rotherham Deserve This'

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans says it 'feels fantastic` after winning promotion yesterday.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the two-nil win over Aldershot, the Millers Boss said, 'I want to thank the Chairman and his family for backing it all and I want to thank him for convincing me to come here, I`m proud to work for him.

'And I`m proud to lead a team for those supporters because they are just incredible.

'But my biggest thanks must go to my playing staff and my other staff. The scouting has been bang on and the reports have been great and my Assistant Manager has been fantastic as have Paul Warne, Andy Dibble, Josh, Dennis Circuit who have all played a massive part. But nobody plays a bigger part than the players.

'To be fair I don`t think we played well at all. At half-time it was about trying to inspire them and lift them to remind them what we were playing for. We told them to play a bit more in the second half and we got a bit of fortune with the first goal and then I think we controlled it and we could have got the second one a lot earlier. But when it did come what a finish and what a move.

We don`t just play for Rotherham United we play for a cause and the cause is the club itself. These people are proud working class people and they deserve the success.`

It's been a long time coming this promotion - after a lot of empty promises of the past we have now done it. And, I for one, would like to raise a glass to Steve Evans and say 'thank you' for getting us there.

Here's to the next one!
