RUFC - COO Defends Ticket Increase

RUFC - COO Defends Ticket Increase

Rotherham United Chief Operating Officer Paul Douglas has defended the increase in price of season tickets and admission price to the New York Stadium next season.

Pay-on-the day prices have risen by £2 although you do get a £2 discount if you get your ticket before the day of the game, while season ticket renewals have got up by around £15.

Speaking to The Advertiser Mr Douglas said, 'We have looked at prices in League One and made sure we were not going to be too expensive. At the same time it is a more expensive division to operate in from the point of view of players we are going to bring in and the players who are here now.

'The increase is not unexpected but we are also conscious not to price people out of coming.`

I`m actually surprised that the club have had to put a 'statement` like this out - I haven`t heard one single moan or complaint about the price of going to watch the Millers next season. I think your average football fan knows that watching football, in whichever league you are in, is an expensive hobby and accept it. And, let`s be honest, it was never going to go down was it!

Don`t forget - season ticket holders have until 8th June to keep their same seat for next season and the Ticket Office at the New York will be opening tomorrow (Saturday) from 10am to 2pm.

At present the club are dealing with just season ticket renewals. Anyone wanting to buy a new season ticket will be able to do so from Monday, 10th June.
