'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Defender In Next Week?

Rotherham United are getting ready to make their first major signing of the summer next week with Manager Steve Evans telling David Beddows of The Advertiser that terms have been agreed with a right-back.

The Millers Boss wouldn`t say anymore but hopes to tie up the deal when the player comes back from holiday next week.

Evans and Chairman Tony Stewart met this week to discuss future signings and Evans said, 'It`s all about value for money and we have to make sure we get that, whether we are buying a player or there is no fee involved, because that`s what we did last season and we won promotion and we want to do it again.`

Knowing it`s going to be tough in League One the Gaffer said, 'We are aiming to make a real challenge next year and I`ve got my ideas who I need to make us stronger. '

With everybody except David Beckham being linked to the Millers at the moment Evans said earlier this week that there was no truth in rumours that they were signing Ashley Vincent (Port Vale), Billy McKay (Inverness) or Scott Flinders (Hartlepool). He said that the stories are being put about by the players` agents and he`s getting fed up and frustrated with it.
