Glasgow born Scott began his career with Albion Rovers before moving over the border in July 2003 to Coventry City and while with the Sky Blues he went out on loan to Rushden and Diamonds. In the summer of 2005 he moved to Bristol Rovers becoming their first choice 'keeper but lost his place to Steve Phillips the following season and went out on loan to Shrewsbury Town. Moving to Wycombe Wanderers in May 2007 he managed just five games before a freak training ground injury where he fractured and dislocated his ankle kept him out for the rest of the season. He stayed with Wycombe for the next two seasons playing just short of eighty games but he was released when they were relegated and joined Crawley Town in January 2011.
Scott joined the Millers last summer from newly promoted Crawley Town.
His first appearance for Rotherham was the second half of a friendly game against Parkgate FC at Roundwood and he also played in the Carling Cup game against Hull City at the KC Stadium where the Millers were beaten in a penalty shoot-out.
His first league debut was at the New York Stadium in the first game of the season which was a three-nil win for the home side in their new home.
After suffering a knee injury during training in October followed by a shoulder injury Scott was out of the team from October until March and only played twenty games this season keeping nine clean sheets.
