'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Richard Thinks Millers Will Do Well

Rotherham United's latest signing Richard Brindley said he has signed for a club that he believes has a big future ahead of it.

Speaking to MillersPlayer after signing a two-year deal with the Millers the twenty-two year old said, 'The Gaffer told me he was interested in me a few weeks ago but today I've finally got it confirmed and I'm going to be here next year.

'For me, as a youngster, it's a chance for me to step up and show what I can do. I think I did well in League Two so League One should be a good test for me and it's where I think I should have been a few years ago.'

Spending his Youth career with his home club Norwich City, Richard said, 'Norwich was great for me. I was there from the age of eight and it was a great experience but I felt I had to move on and get first team football. So I had to take a few steps backwards but now I feel I'm really where I want to be.

'It was tough for me at Chelmsford and I had to keep faith in myself and believe in myself. Luckily I had some good representation that supported me and it's got me here where I deserve to be.

'Chesterfield was a big step up for me but I knew, given the opportunity, I'd do well and it's paid off and now I'm moving into League One.'

Asked what his aims are for next season, Richard said, 'To get first team experience, take my chances and get as many games under my belt as I can.

'There's a lot of big games next season but I think if we knuckle down and put the work in then as a squad I think we'll do very well.'
