RUFC - Head Groundsman Can Get Pitch Better

RUFC - Head Groundsman Can Get Pitch Better

I think there have been a few Millers fans staring with open mouths when we saw the photo`s appearing of the pitch at the New York Stadium being taken up. After all, to us with an untrained eye it looked nearly as perfect on the last day of the season as it did on the first day.

But Rotherham United`s Player Facilities Manager Dave Fellowes says that after a year of learning about it he believes he can get it better.

Speaking to The Advertiser Dave said, 'It depends on the weather over the summer and next winter but, potentially, it should be better.

'There will certainly be better grass cover than last time and the contractors will feed and top dress it before handing it over to us to start bringing it on.

'In twelve to fourteen days it will be ready for its first cut and then we`ve got seven or eight weeks to get it ready for the first friendly.`

When you see some of the pitches we`ve played on this season I think there are some clubs out there that would have loved the pitch how it was!
