RUFC - Evans 'We Could Have Got Big Money'

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans says that he could have sold two of the Millers first team players for 'big` money last season.

Midfielders Kari Arnason and Ben Pringle were both being watched by clubs with bids being put in for both of them - one for Kari not long after he arrived at the New York Stadium last summer.

'We could have sold them both for big, big money,` the Millers Boss told The Star, 'and these are two players we got for nothing. And, let`s not forget, Ben Pringle was getting thrown out of this club eighteen months ago.`

Evans is referring to the torrid time Ben had under Andy Scott when it was more or less made clear to him that he was 'surplus to requirements`. But give the young man his due he put his head down and didn`t make a fuss even though he didn`t get a look in from October to March the season before last. Scott brought Prings off the bench against Barnet in the March and he scored the equaliser five minutes later. This season Ben has made forty-seven appearances and was second top scorer with nine goals.

Kari joined the Millers in the summer after turning down, what we understand to be, an exceptional offer from Aberdeen. He`s made forty appearances for the Millers and Steve Evans has always made the point of saying that if 'Arni is fit then he plays.` Kari will be playing for Iceland on the 7th June in a World Cup Qualifying game.

I`m quite sure a few years ago if someone had come in for one of our players offering 'big` money then there would have been no hesitation about taking it and I think we have both the Chairman and the Manager to thank for not selling part of our team.

Millers Suffer Five-Nil Loss

Rotherham United are still looking for their first win on the road after getting a five-nil drubbing this afternoon in South Wales by Cardiff City.

After a scrappy opening to the game the first action of the half on eleven minutes saw the hosts take the lead when Millers' 'keeper Richard O'Donnell could do nothing to stop a superb curling shot by Kadeem Harris hit the back of the net. Minutes later a ball into the box found Sean Morrison but as he rose to head the ball he clattered into O
