RUFC - Pen Pics - Johnny Mullins

Johnny Mullins

London Born Johnny came through the Youth system at Reading and while with the Royals he has two loan spells with Kidderminster Harriers lasting two seasons. On being released by Reading he joined Mansfield Town on a two year deal and in his first season was named as the Stags' Player of the Year. After his contract ended Johnny moved to Stockport County and became the clubs vice-captain.

Johnny joined the Millers in 2010 and soon became a fans favourite so it was a bit of a surprise when he was sent out on loan early this season to fellow promotion hopefuls Oxford where he played eight times and scored twice before being recalled and getting straight back into the side.

In January skipper Ian Sharps went out on loan to Burton and Mulls was given the captains armband. He has appeared thirty-six times for the Millers this season scoring four times including the first one on the last day of the season which helped see the Millers promoted. Mulls was sent-off against Morecambe in April after what appeared to be a fair tackle on the seventieth minute.

After the Millers went up Mullins said he was proud of each and everyone of his team and couldn't hide his delight during the open-top bus parade in town when he was grinning from ear-to-ear from start to finish.
