RUFC - On This Day - 7th June
Let`s have a look back at the last few years and what was happening regarding the Millers on this day.
7th June 2012
After clocking up many miles it was on this day last year that Steve Evans finally got his man when he signed Icelandic International Kari Arnason on a two-year deal.
Saying that Kari is an outstanding talent the Millers Boss said, 'He is technically outstanding, very creative in the attacking third while his passing is top class and added to his physique, defensive awareness and work rate there is no doubt this is a major signing for all of us.'
Meanwhile former defender and skipper Pablo Mills told us that he wouldn't rule out a return to the Millers saying that if Steve Evans wanted to speak to him then he was prepared to do that.
Midfielder Danny Harrison, who was let go at the end of the season, signed for former Manager Ronnie Moore at Tranmere.
7th June 2011
On this day two years ago Rotherham United parted company with Andy Liddell who had joined the Millers as a player and ended up being joint caretaker Manager with Paul Warne.
We also found out that Paul Warne was to stay with the club and to take more of a coaching role.
7th June 2010
We found out three years ago that the Millers would be taking an eleven to the Impact Arena for a pre-season friendly with Alfreton Town who were managed by former Miller Nicky Law.
It was also thought that Ronnie Moore would be making his first summer signing in the next few days with many of us guessing that it would be Marcus Marshall who had been on loan with the Millers since January.
7th June 2008
Five years ago then Manager Mark Robins said that he had one main regret about leaving Millmoor for Don Valley and that was the pitch. 'We've been spoiled with the pitch at Millmoor,' Robins said. There had already been some concern about the Don Valley pitch with some visiting pre-season Managers saying they may not sent their first teams.
7th June 2007
It was rumoured on this day six years ago that Richie Partridge would be leaving the Millers with Chester City's Chairman, Stephen Vaughan, admitting that the Millers midfielder was on their radar. Richie had played thirty-six times for Rotherham since joining from neighbours Sheffield Wednesday.
