Vital Rotherham on:
Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans has a tough team selection ahead of Saturday's game away at top of the table Leyton Orient.
Having made a number of changes for Tuesday's draw at home to Tranmere Rovers - some enforced through suspension and injury - the Millers Boss told MillersPlayer that he didn't come away from the game thinking that any of the eleven on the pitch had underperformed.
'There was just one player we thought was below par,' Evans said, though wouldn't name the player, 'and we thought the others put in a good performance and it's given us a lot to think about.'
Speaking about the players who came in, the Millers Boss said, 'Mark Bradley has played in central midfield in the Reserve games for us and I thought he was good on Tuesday night and gave us a real physical presence. I had thought of bringing Michael Tidser in but when he said he wasn't feeling one hundred per cent Mark Bradley was the only option we had.
'Tom Eaves is a big lad and he held the ball up well and he was a real handful and the more he plays the better he'll get. He's six feet five and people will be thinking the ball will be up in the air all the time but he's not as good as an Alex Revell or a Kevin Davies but he's got good feet. He's still young and still learning so he will be a bit erratic at times but he's going to be a handful for defenders in this league. The last six to eight weeks is probably the most football he's had in terms of the competitiveness of it and it will have brought him on.'
Speaking about defender Richard Brindley, who has had a bit of a stop-start of a season up to now, Evans said, 'When we signed Richard Brindley I told the Chairman we wouldn't see the best of him for a year. He's a proper player and has all the attributes but is a kid and is still learning. He's got frightening pace, is technically good, lives the right way and we will see some good performances from him in the season ahead and some electric performances next season and he didn't cost the earth.'
I'd be surprised if Michael O'Connor and Lee Frecklington didn't come back into the starting eleven on Saturday - as I thought the midfield was the poorest section of the team on Tuesday night.
