'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Share Your Christmas Football Memories

In my best Noddy Holder voice It's Christmas!

Well, OK, it's not exactly Christmas but it is December so I feel that I can now listen to Christmas Carols and think about putting the trimmings up and send out Christmas cards - and it got me to thinking about football and Christmas.

And that got me thinking about past Millers game around the Christmas period.

For instance the first ever Boxing Day game at the New York Stadium was, unfortunately, a two-one loss to Port Vale.

But what memories do you have of Boxing Day games involving Rotherham United? Which games stick out in your memory? It could be the last one at Millmoor which was in 2007 and also a loss this time to Oldham Athletic. Or what of the first Boxing Day at Don Valley which again was against Port Vale but that time a win. Or is there another Boxing Day game you remember?

And what about just after Christmas - I can recall a three-nil win at Meadow Lane over Notts County just after Christmas. I'd had a terrible run up to the Christmas period with family illness and other problems and then went down with flu meaning I actually missed the Boxing Day game but rallied myself to go to Meadow Lane (having a few hot toddy's before I left home!) I'll be honest a lot of it was just a befuddle (that might have been due to the lingering flu symptoms or the hot toddy's or both!) but I remember the friendliness of everyone around me and the joking and laughter - oh and the win, I can't forget the win!

So what are your Christmas football thoughts?
