RUFC - Evans 'My 'Keeper Had A Bad Night'

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans said that Millers 'keeper had a 'bad night' after one, and maybe two, mistakes last night saw Fleetwood beat Rotherham in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

'He's had a bad night, my goalkeeper,' the Millers Boss told Radio Sheffield 'but he's helped us into the top six in League Two so I can be critical for tonight but certainly not to him as a goalkeeper.

'They say when goalkeepers 'have one' then they 'have one' and probably from his point of view it couldn't get any worse. The first error (for the first goal) is highly poor and the second one if he moves his feet then it's just a comfortable save. Yes it was a good strike from the lad but we shouldn't be conceding from there. He should have saved it but he knows it and his head will be down but now it's my job to lift him.'

Adam Collins did make a mistake for the first goal last night - just one of those things that happens to 'keepers now and again. From where I was sat, on the side, it also looked like he really should have got to the ball for the second goal too - but having had a conversation after the game on the way home from those stood behind the goal they seem to think it wasn't totally his fault and that the ball appeared to take a massive sudden swing that took it away from him. As the Gaffer says Collin has been fantastic for the Millers since taking over from Scott Shearer in goal and I hope no one will judge him on this one performance.
