RUFC - Does Football Annoy You?
There are things in life that annoy people and I don't think that football is any different.
Some people are just annoyed by how much football there is on TV while others are annoyed that there isn't enough live football shown on the terrestrial channels.
There are those amongst us who love to sing and chant while others just like to listen and smile at the chants and there are some who love to hear a drum at a football game and others who loathe it.
One of the things that annoys me in football is an early foul that goes unpunished. For instance, in the opening minutes of a game I watched on TV recently a player committed a bad foul - never went for the ball which, to me is unacceptable. Nothing happened, no flag, no foul, no yellow card, no red card. And one of the commentators said, 'If that foul had been another twenty minutes into the game the player would have seen red.' So what's the difference if it happens in minute one or twenty minutes in? If it's a red card then it's a red card regardless of how long the match has been going on - isn't it?
Also what's all this that ref's do when they book someone and point to various other parts of the pitch suggesting that the player has already committed fouls elsewhere. If it's a foul, book him, don't wait until he's on his fifth foul to show a yellow.
I also get annoyed with people who have been loving their team and manager while things are going right but as soon as they lose a couple of games they start to slag those same people off.
Offside. To me if you are offside you are offside whether it be from a free-kick, a goal kick a throw-in and whether the player is or isn't 'interfering with play'. Wasn`t it the late Brian Clough who said, 'If any one of my players isn`t interfering with play, they`re not getting paid.`? Couldn`t agree more.
