RUFC - Nicky 'Ready For The Challenge'

RUFC - Nicky 'Ready For The Challenge'

Rotherham United's latest signing Nicky Adams says that as soon as he knew he was coming to the New York Stadium he was 'delighted'.

Speaking after signing a two-and-a-half-year deal the twenty-seven year old told MillersPlayer, 'I heard late last night that a bid had been accepted by Crawley and I got here early this morning.

'My last game for Crawley was here so I know how good this club is. It's a huge club and I didn't have to think twice about coming here and I'm excited to be here.

'When I played here with Crawley I thought 'I'd love to play here every week'. Now, thankfully, it's happened. The way the clubs going I can't see why they can't get to the Championship.

'Crawley's a good club and I've had a great two seasons there and there was a great bunch of lads there. The fans were good to me and I really enjoyed my time there but it's a new challenge for me now and I've come to a massive club that I couldn't turn down. And I'm a Northern boy so it's good to be back up North.'

Asked what he knew about Rotherham United, the Bolton born wide man said, 'I know a few of the boys and I'm good friends with Claude. I know there's some really good players here but I'll be honest I don't know too much about Rotherham but I did play at Millmoor but that was quite a long time ago. But you only have to look at the stadium and the facilities to know it's a club on the up and the fans who turn up to the games are brilliant and I want to be a part of it.'

Nicky has played for the Welsh Under 21's and said, 'Hopefully coming to a big club like this might help me get into the Welsh first team squad.

Speaking about his new Manager Steve Evans, Nicky said, 'I've a lot to thank him for because he was instrumental in getting me to Crawley even though he'd left by the time I went. And now he's signed me here I'm hoping I can pay him back. I'm ready for the challenge and I've come here to get promoted.'

Nicky is available to play against Leyton Orient tomorrow a team he had a loan spell with four years ago when he was at Leicester. 'It will be a good game,' Nicky said.

I know Warney says 'no' but do you think we need a defensive coach?
