'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Evans Praise For Players

Rotherham United Manager had praise for all his players this afternoon but he said he thought striker Nicky Adams was 'outstanding'.

'What with his energy levels and some of his crossing in the first half then he's popped up on the left, he's popped up on the right.

He came from Crawley with a big reputation and we have been patient putting him in the team. He's in there now a very tired boy saying he's never worked so hard. Well he has to work as hard as that if he wants to play in that team because that team work hard every week. You know we might lose games but teams will never beat us for effort.

'And I'm especially pleased for Craig Morgan and Lee Frecklington (former Peterborough players). Craig left here for a lot of money to move to the Championship with Preston. And we played a club record for Lee Frecklington.

'But our centre-half partnership had to be good today because they are playing against a young man (Britt Assombalonga) who has twenty-six or twenty-seven goals. And it would be an absolute privilege to be buying strikers who cost 1.2 or 1.3 million and you can understand why he cost that amount of money. But I thought the young man who probably cost four bob and a packet of chips up beside him was terrific as well and I thought they gave our centre-halves a tough day today. But our centre-halves stood up and were strong and they did a good job today.'

As I said in my match report it was definitely a team effort today. I don't think one player had a bad game. But I do think that Craig Morgan and Kari Arnason had great games.
