RUFC - Q & A With An O's Fan!

RUFC - Q & A With An O's Fan!

Just in case this had passed you by, Rotherham United travel to the capital on Sunday to take on Leyton Orient at Wembley in the League One Play-Off Final.

Before our game we asked Vital Leyton Orient's Ed Vital O to answer us a few questions.

How long have you been a Leyton Orient fan?
I started supporting Orient during the 2003/04 season before I became a season ticket holder the following season.

Who is your favourite ever Orient player?
My favourite ever player is Matt Lockwood. Going to the ground as a kid and seeing grown men literally bow down to him was amazing. He was so reliable when defending and offered so much in attack despite playing left back. The best memory I have of Lockwood in an O's shirt was against Gillingham in 2006 when he scored a hat-trick in the final 13 minutes to snatch a 3-3 draw.

What do you think of the play-offs?
Well, before this season I loved watching them! This is my first experience of the play-offs with Orient and so far it has been a brilliant experience, despite sending my emotions into overdrive.

Do you feel a little aggrieved that you finished third in the league yet have to be in a play-off?
I wouldn't say I'm aggrieved to be honest, everybody knows that the top two go up automatically and then it becomes a raffle in the play-offs for the third spot. It is a little disheartening however knowing that 86 points would have been enough to win the title the season before, and that must also apply to yourselves. Credit has to go to both Wolves and Brentford for earning promotion, the standard was really high this year.

Have you seen Leyton Orient play at Wembley before (I`m guessing you weren`t there in the 30`s when they played there twice!)
This will be my first time at Wembley to support Orient. The match against Scunthorpe in the 1999 play-off final was just before my time... luckily.

Who is the man we should 'look out` for on Sunday?
I believe Moses Odubajo could play a massive part on Sunday. The winger has terrorised full-backs all season and the pitch at Wembley can only benefit him. Odubajo is brilliant when running with the ball and has also chipped in with some important goals this season, including the equaliser against Peterborough in the first leg.

Which Miller, if any, do you think you need to 'fear` on Sunday?
I've heard a lot of people talking about Ben Pringle being the man to watch on Sunday and rightly so. Pringle has looked impressive each time I have seen him play but despite this, Alex Revell is the man who worries me the most. The former O's man was popular in E10 and his departure came as a shock back in 2011. Revell scored the winner in the dying seconds back in February and I can't help but worry that he could score the winner for you again!
Ed Note - Alex really does deserve to get a goal at Wembley, he's had a great season in my opinion

Have you been to the New York Stadium, Millmoor or (the dreaded) Don Valley - if so what are your thoughts on them?
I haven't been to Rotherham yet, I'm not too upset about missing out on a visit to the Don Valley but I've been told the New York Stadium is really nice.
Ed Note - you'll have to come next season in a cup competition!

Will we be expected to see any 'famous` fans on Sunday (I know Julian Lloyd Webber is an O`s fan)?
Julian Lloyd Webber is sure to be in attendance on Sunday and so will a number of our promotion winning side from 2006. Former captain John Mackie has been rallying around trying to get his ex-teammates to come and support the boys at Wembley which is great to see, so far he's got at least ten players!
Ed Note - what a great idea to get former players back!

Prediction for the game?
I'm going to be positive and go for 2-1 Orient! David Mooney to score the winner...

Thanks for taking time out to answer our questions. Here's to a good game!
