RUFC - Chairman In No Hurry Over Contract Talks

Rotherham United Chairman Tony Stewart and Manager Steve Evans will be sitting down in the next week or two to talk about contracts.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield Mr Stewart said, 'Steve and I spend a lot of time together and our relationship has got better and better and with regard to the contract we might do that like we might go for a picnic. It's not something that's going to be difficult. We've developed into a relationship that isn't just friendly it's also matter-of-fact because it's about football and results which this guy has been delivering.

'Steve has a year left on his contract and I think we will sit down in the summer. We've raised it once or twice and said let's get over this hurdle and I think in the next weeks, rather than months, we'll have sorted something out.'

The Millers Boss said, 'There are no more positive words I can say today that I haven't said about Tony Stewart in the two years since I came here. He's a dignified and private man and a man of his word. Everything and more he said to me when I walked in here that I'd get I did. And, when you speak to the previous three managers under the Chairman they all say the same thing.

'And when I sit down with him in a couple of weeks I'm sure the Chairman will say that we've done a good job and he will make an effort to reward that because that's the type of guy he is.'
