RUFC Who is Conor Newton

RUFC Who is Conor Newton

The arrival of Conor Newton has had a few people asking where he plays and how he plays.

Steve Evans, on Millers Player, says he`s a box to box midfielder that can play either left or right and that he`s not a Michael Tidser that likes to pick a pass. Does this mean that Evans sees these two complimenting each other in the middle of the park? Evans also says he`s a goal scorer! There are a couple of examples on youtube of that when, he drills a shot from the edge of the box to score in last year`s Scottish League cup final and also against Motherwell, he wriggles through to pass the ball in to the corner. You can also see against Celtic in the semi final, his debut, a sublime chip in to the box to set up the opener.

Another testament to the ability and fitness of the player is that he played more minutes in the SPL than any other last season. We know that the way Steve Evans sets the Millers up, fitness is pre requisite to have any chance of getting on the team sheet! The player himself on the official Millers Player says that James Tavernier helped influence him to coming to Rotherham. Tavs, apparently, told him how much he`d enjoyed being at Rotherham. Could be that the result of tomorrow`s game could influence the career paths of players as well as the club.
