Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans made his second signing of the summer this week when striker Matt Derbyshire joined the Millers from Nottingham Forest.

'We'd been speaking to his representatives for a couple of weeks,' the Millers Boss told the Official Site, 'but we knew that we only had a chance if we were playing Championship football. His representatives have had to 'phone other Championship sides and tell them that their offers were unacceptable and he'd signed for Rotherham United.

Asked what he spoke to the twenty-eight year old about the Gaffer said, 'It was about our style of play, our training and our preparation. We also told him that he had to earn the right to get a starting shirt but we are absolutely delighted to have him.'

Steve says that Chief Executive Paul Douglas is still very busy talking to other players and is still hoping to keep Wes Thomas.
