RUFC - Brindley Expected To Play In Championship

Rotherham United defender Richard Brindley says that being in the Championship is exactly where he expected to be.

The twenty-one year old joined the Millers from Chesterfield just over a year ago and has made twenty-four appearances including coming off the bench at Wembley just a minute before the Millers started on their comeback in the game.

Speaking to David Beddows of The Advertiser Richard said, 'The Championship is somewhere I wanted to be before now and when I started in League Two with Chesterfield that was just a stepping stone. League One was the same and I'm grateful to get the opportunity to be where I deserve to be and it's what I've been working towards.

'As a team Rotherham United deserve to be in the Championship and to experience the Championship at my age is a great opportunity and one I'm sure I will take.'

Asked about his first season as a Miller, Richard admitted it hadn't gone how he really wanted. 'You want to start every game,' Richard said, 'but the positives I can take out of it are the negatives. Not playing every game is something that will happen in our career and I think I made the best out of the situation and it's made me a much better player for the future.'
