'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Alan Knill honoured

Rotherham United boss Alan Knill has been named the League One Manager of the Month for October.

Knill claims the award after leading The Millers off the bottom of the table with four straight league victories last month.
Rotherham's last game of the month saw them notch up an outstanding 5-1 victory over Crewe at Millmoor, a win what saw the Millers climb out of the relegation zone.

The South Yorkshire club's achievements are particularly remarkable, considering the Millmoor club started the season with a 10-point penalty for going into administration last term.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Knill declared that wiping out the 10-point deficit has lifted a weight of everyone's shoulders.

'I think it's all been down to hard work and a lot of credit goes down to the players,' Knill said. 'They like the challenge and they've taken it on.

'Training is so much easier and everybody is enjoying it, but there is a long way to go.

'We just thought that by Christmas that if we were in with a shout (of avoiding relegation), then we'd be happy.

'But to be out of the bottom four after three months of the season is a really good achievement and the players should take a lot credit.

'We've got another tough month coming up, so we have to keep going.'

10 goal striker Will Hoskins also has cause to celebrate, as he takes the League one Player of the month award.
