RUFC - Evans 'John Will Do Well For Us'

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans has secured the season long loan of Chelsea youngster John Swift today saying it has taken 'weeks' to get the lad.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield the Millers Boss said, 'He's a young man we've admired for a couple of seasons and towards the end of last season he was producing some stunning performances.

'We didn't think it was feasible that we'd be one of the favoured options but we've shown a lot of tenacity and kept asking the question and we were delighted when we received the call last night that John Swift had chosen to come to Rotherham.'

Asked about the nineteen year old, the Gaffer said, 'He can play anywhere along the midfield and is very accomplished on the right or the left or centrally and he's got fantastic technical ability and he has a lot of tricks in his bag.

'It was important that we got him for the whole season and it's important for him to come and play for a full season at this level. Chelsea were very compliant because they see this as football development and I think he will do well for us.'

It is thought that John will be on the team coach for the game at Doncaster tomorrow.
