'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Raynor 'Good Solid Performance'

Rotherham United Assistant Manager Paul Raynor thought there were some good individual performances from the Millers players at Doncaster this afternoon.

'These games are about preparing,' Rayns told MillersPlayer after this afternoon's two-one win, 'and, collectively, we grew into a good performance.

'It was a bit disjointed for the first fifteen minutes but once we settled into the game I thought it was a good performance. I thought we looked a bit more composed in the second half and kept the ball better which we are going to need to do in this division. And with the boys getting fitter and getting to know each other our ball retention was a lot better today.'

Speaking about Ryan Hall's goal this afternoon, Rayns said, 'Ryan's certainly got talent. He's got a wonderful left foot and he's a very clever player who is now adding that fitness to his ability and I think he realises that there are no more second chances and he's got to get his head down and work hard.'

New boy John Swift came on for the last thirty minutes this afternoon with Paul saying, 'It was very difficult for him. He's literally walked into the dressing room today and it's the first time he's met everyone. I think we saw some little flashes of the quality he's got and he will get better and better.

'But it was about a good solid performance today.'
