RUFC - Gaffer 'Fans Have Huge Part To Play'

Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans admitted that he thought his team were a bit fortunate to beat Wolves on Saturday but is pleased to have got a first win in the Championship under their belts.

Speaking to Rob Staton of Radio Sheffield the Millers Boss said, 'We got a little bit of luck against Wolves but, it's fair to say, that we got the luck back that deserted us last week at Derby.

'But we know that this is probably the biggest jump in football from League One to the Championship and we know, over the season, it's all going to be about performances. But we know we don't have the resources to compete with the Derby and the Wolves so we have to have a point of difference which is a real desire, hunger and passion to go and win a football match.'

Speaking about the supporters on Saturday, the Gaffer said, 'Our supporters were absolutely terrific. And I don't know how many times we've said how important the supporters are at the New York but I don't think even they know how important a part they are going to play.

'They were stunning at the start of the game on Saturday and when Wolves had a bit of the ball they were getting right behind the team and we all got our rewards at the end of the game.

'But they have a huge part to play and we are going to need that type of atmosphere at every game all season.'
