Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans says it's good to have Richie Smallwood back with the Millers.

Speaking to Rob Staton of Radio Sheffield the Millers Boss said, 'You could see what it meant to our supporters when he got the ovation he did on Tuesday.

'I thought he was outstanding for ninety minutes against one of the best teams in the league.

'He's a young man who fits our profile. He's twenty-three years old and has reasonable experience playing in the Championship with Middlesbrough. There was a number of experienced managers who, when we announced we'd signed Richie said, 'Smallwood and Green - what a pair' and I think they showed that against Watford.'

Saying that Richie was one of the players who wanted to be at the New York Stadium, the Gaffer said, 'If I had 10 for every time that kids text me since the Play-Off Final and said he'd love to be here I'd probably be having a couple of days break somewhere! He was very keen to join us.'

I think it's always good to see that a player wants to come back to a club because it must mean that club did something right in the first place. And Richie will go down in Rotherham United history after he scored the penalty which got us into the Championship at Wembley.
