CARL GRAHAM GILBERT
Born: Folkestone, 20 March, 1948
Career:
Gillingham 10/65; 30 league apps 11 goals
Bristol Rovers 12/69; 45 apps 15 goals
Rotherham United 3/71 94 apps 36 goals
A strong striker, Carl had to contend himself with life in the lower divisions where he boasted a fine scoring ratio, not far short of one goal for every two games.
His most prolific season came when he was with his third club, Rotherham United, when he netted 27 league and cup goals in 1971-72, including four in a 4-0 win against Swansea City and a hat-trick in the FA Cup.
The following season he had the unusual experience of starting as a striker against Bournemouth at Millmoor, giving his team the lead but when his keeper was injured he took over the jersey. However, with Rotherham 3-1 down he came back out again to score another goal although he couldn't prevent a 7-2 defeat.

Rotherham Record.
1970/71: League apps 9+2 goals 4
1971/72: League apps 36+2 goals 21 Cup apps 7 goals 6
1972/73: League apps 29+8 goals 9 Cup apps 4
1973/74: League apps 4+4 goals 2 Cup apps 2+1 goal 1

For once Zippy, you have one there that even I'm too young to remember, Carl Graham Gilbert. Good list though!
