Youthful reserve team lose v York

Top of the table Rotherham United reserves fielded a very young team and were beaten 2-1 by York City at Millmoor last night.

York totally dominated the play in the first half and the impressive display of football gave them their just rewards with 2 first half goals.

The first goal for the visitors was a 20 yard screamer, which flew into the top corner from central defender Luke Foster. The second goal came from Cayne Handley who slotted his shot confidently past Mark Oxley the Rotherham keeper after a well weighted through ball from Byron Webster.

In the second half Rotherham came back into the game and scored their consolation from Jamie Yates after 55 minutes.

City`s reserve team coach Colin Walker said, "It was a tremendous first half performance from the team with some great attractive football. To beat the team who is top of the League on their home ground is quite an achievement.I`m very pleased with the team`s progress."
