Head to Head Millers v Cheltenham

Head to Head Millers v Cheltenham

Cheltenham Town play host to Rotherham United on Saturday and this meeting is only the 3rd time these teams have faced each other.

The 2 previous meetings were in Rotherham's promotion winning season of 1999-2000.

The first game at Whaddon Road was on Saturday October 2nd 1999, and 3,331 fans saw a 2-0 victory for Rotherham.
Steve Thompson opened the scoring on 37 minutes from the penalty spot and 2 minutes after the interval Paul Warne doubled the scoreline to give the Millers all 3 points which took us up 4 places into 5th position.

The return game at Millmoor on April 24th finished up with the same scoreline with 5,447 attending the match.
A 12th minute strike from Darren Garner and a second on 84 from Jason White gave Rotherham the win to keep us in 2nd place in Division 3.
Promotion was won 5 days later at Hartlepool.
