Head to Head Millers v Tranmere
Tranmere play hosts to Rotherham United on New Years Day, and meetings between the two clubs have been very limited lately, with the upcoming game being only the 4th League meeting since 1991.
This season's meeting at Millmoor on September 12th saw the Millers taking the mighty step of erasing the 10 point deduction from the season's start.
Rotherham beat the club managed by Millmoor legend Ronnie Moore 2-1.
Will Hoskins and Lee Williamson scoring for the triumphant Millers.
The last outing at Prenton Park took place on January 2nd 2006 and this time it was Tranmere who came out victorious, with a 3-2 scoreline.
Shaun Barker opened the scoring for the Millers on 14 minutes, but the hero then turned villian and was ordered from the pitch after 29 for a second bookable.
Tranmere went into the break on level terms as Chris Greenacre netted a killer goal after 45.
Calvin Zola (54) and Danny Harrison (62) added to the Millers misery in the second half, and despite a headed consolation from Will Hoskins on 77 and the red carding of Tranmere's Steve Davies on 90, Rotherham just couldn't get back on terms.
The Millers last victory at Tranmere came on a famous Friday Night in April 1991.
Rovers were sitting in 4th place in Division 3 and were unbeaten at home in 10.
Rotherham were rock bottom and staring relegation in the face.
John Morrissey gave Rovers a 1st half lead and it looked ominous for the Millers.
However on-loan striker John Pearson scored twice to make it 4 in 3 games for the Leeds United striker, and the Millers fans went back over the Pennines with a foothold still in the Division.
